College Auditions

Whether you are preparing for a live auditions at the college of your dreams or preparing and recording videos for Art Supplements or Scholarship auditions, EVS has the tools to help you succeed.

College Applications and Scholarship Auditions

Are you a high school student? Need help navigating the college acceptance and scholarship application process?  I have a great deal of experience preparing students for post secondary auditions.  Many EVS grads have continued their study at some of the finest institutions in the country.

MUSIC MAJORS: If you are considering a post secondary education in music, please speak to me so that we may tailor your lessons to achieve this goal. One hour lessons weekly are recommended and you may require additional time depending on the program for which you are preparing to audition.

NON-MAJORS: Even if you don’t major in music, singers can often gain significant scholarship money (via a well-prepared audition) for participating in college ensembles.  Don’t count yourself out!

RESEARCH THE AUDITION REQUIREMENTS: Every institution has specific audition requirements (specific repertoire, length of pieces, cut parameters, theory placement exams, etc).

REQUESTS FOR LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION: Often scholarship applications require a letter of recommendation from your applied teacher of singing.  I am more than happy to provide this.  Here is what I ask from you if you request a recommendation letter:
    *  please provide me with a pre-addressed stamped envelope (if to be submitted by mail)
    *  provide me as much advanced notice as possible – minimum 2 weeks notice before deadline – PLEASE PLAN AHEAD!

SCHOLARSHIP/COLLEGE ACCEPTANCE RECORDINGS:
I have the capability of recording your scholarship and program acceptance audition videos at EVS. If you require an audition recording for submission, please provide at least two month notice of submission deadline, recipient information and requirements – this allows us to be sure to select appropriate audition material AND work it up to audition standards!

If you choose to do your recording here, this one hour package will include:

  • 15-30 minute rehearsal with accompanist to get tempos together before recording begins
  • 30-45 minutes of recording multiple takes (depending on rehearsal time required)
  • multiple takes of songs are often necessary because no splicing is allowed in audition submissions
  • camera, lighting, microphone operation, and coaching by Jerry Elsbernd
  • editing of recording (please provide thumb drive with ample space if you need/want a copy)
  • electronic submission of recording (if provided the audition link)
  • direct upload to YouTube if preferred/required

FEE FOR ONE HOUR RECORDING and editing time/submission (fee not covered by tuition):
$135.00 if scheduled during your lesson time (whenever possible, I will!)
$200.00 if one hour time slot required outside of your lesson time
